Thermostat feature request

If temperature recorded goes below set point (x)

Increase temperature target to new level, example (x + 3)

When temperature recorded is greater than new level, decrease temperature back to first set point (x)

I would class this as a mode selection

Could a mode or other feature like this be implemented?

Also what do you think about this idea?

What is the problem that your solution is trying to fix?

From a "control systems" point of view, making an "impulse" will destabilize the feedback, and possibly cause it to become unstable towards itself.   Imagine driving a car that has a steering wheel that wants to go left at random intervals.

I'm not sure of the problem. Not even sure if there is a problem.

Just an idea I have had.

Know there are some sort of storage problems that have a solution of refill if less than 50%, stop refilling when 95% full.

Didn't know if this would or could be useful for anyone using the heating systems.

Anyway it was just an idea.  Und4rstand the point you make.

I agree with precooling a house when the forecast says it will need AC later in the day, reducing the peak electrical demand.  That's something I hope to do with IFTTT if it's not a Nest feature.

A second level, of AI deep learning, would grade the system response to figure out how much over or under cooling it did, by estimating the heat volume of the facility.

Hello folks,

We appreciate your request for this additional feature. If the Nest Thermostat was set on a specific temperature and by the time it has reached that temperature, the system will turn off and turn back on once the thermostat detects at least a 2-3 degree temperature difference, but won't overshoot and will only maintain the target temperature.

So, please let our product team know about it by sending feedback. Also, if there’s anything else I can help you with, please let me know. Otherwise, this thread will be locked within 24 hours.

Best,

Mark
