Thermostat says it needs to shut down to recharge its battery and then shuts down

My Nest Gen 3 thermostat says that it needs to shut down to recharge its battery and then shuts down. It flashes orange on the light at the top and then cycles around the home screen and does the same thing again in a continuous cycle.

I can't try any of the troubleshooting steps as I can't get into the settings of the thermostat. I have also checked all the pins on the back of the thermostat and all look fine.

Anything else I can try? I am beginning to think the hardware has gone faulty.

@Striggy , You need to remove the nest display, turn it over and charge it will a wall charge and a micro-USB cord. Charge it for 5-hours. Then put it back on the base plate.

Mine does the same thing,  not sure how to fix it. I do not see a battery

Mine was in warranty so I got Google to send out a replacement. Looks like there's a bath that develops a battery fault.
