Melba,

I have not installed the Nest thermostat.

I measured the voltage between the red wire and the black wire without the Nest installed.  I checked the voltage because I had problems with an Ecobee that was never solved.  The Ecobee would warm up.  Never figured out what the problem was for sure but after thinking about it I decided to check the voltage.
So, if I measured the voltage correctly I guess the question  is- What is the maximum voltage for the Nest to operate properly.

Thanks for your help,

Hey daltweis,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the Google Nest Community.

Our Nest thermostat is designed to work on 24 V system. Just curious though, are you getting a message or a code on your Nest thermostat display or app that's why you tried checking on your thermostat's voltage? If yes, what is the message or code? Also, what specific wire on your thermostat did you test?

Best,

Melba
