I have tried all the various methods to connect the thermostat to the heat link, but nothing works. The green light on the thermostat flashes as its trying to connect, and the blue link on the heat link flashes blue but will not connect. Does this mean I need to replace them. I have had them for approx. 7 years.
Sorry not sure if I have used the right Labels

What error message are you getting on the screen?
Are you wireless or wired thermostat display?
Have a look in Tech - Heat Link, and do the numbers match the 6 digit code you are entering?

The error message I am getting is H71 Failed to connect wirelessly to the heat link
The termostat is wirelss, but plugged into mains, so I know its not the battery
Yes the numbers match the ones I am entering

OK, that's the normal error code for lost connection. You have the thermostat confused due to the amount of times you have tried to pair. This is another option.
Try this, but I assume as you have tried everything as you stated, so you must have done this! Remove the display from the stand, and squeeze the display like you would a hamburger. Keep squeezed until the screen goes blank, and you then see the little house come on, then release. Do that twice. Once done, go to Reset Pairing and follow the instructions. See if that pairs.
You have one more option, but you need to be able to connect a temp cable. Not complicated, but again if you have tried everything you probably have done that also? See what happens with the above first.

Good Evening
It is 3rd generation. I have tried everything I have read. Turned off all other applicances ie microwave etc. Turned off wifi. Move the thermostat coser to the heat link. I have done all this several times without any luck

OK, but that’s not how you tried to connect for pairing!
1. How did you setup the Heat Link for pairing?
2. How did you setup the display ready for pairing
By the way, the green light flashing on the display is not signs of pairing.

I press the button on the heat link until the light started to flash blue. I moved the thermostat closer to the heat link and pressed reset pairing. This did not work so I then tried replace pair link, entered the code, pressed the button on the heat link, as soon as it blinked blue I set the thermostat to link

OK, as I thought you have not tried ALL the methods for setting up the Heat Link!!!
First try this....Press the H/L button for 35-40 seconds - do NOT release the button until well after 35+ seconds, you will see the blue light pulse. KEEP the button pressed for a futher 5+ seconds, then release. The time AFTER the blue light pulses is not critical, just make sure it's pulsing steady.
DO THIS TWICE
Then look at your display and click ''Replace Heat Link''
Make sure you have the correct 6 digit code, and to confirm that look INSIDE the H/L cover at the left hand fixing screw. Do NOT assume the cover numbers are correct, but just for your reference check the 2 match.
Once you have the information, then follow the instructions on the screen.

I have done this but they still will not connect to each other. Looks like I have tried everything everyone has suggested. Does this mean I need to purchase a new set

You HAVE connected a temporary cable between the display and Heat Link, correct?
