Trying to add 2nd nest thermostat to house, can’t get past “connecting to assisting Nest device step

The first nest thermostat was set up with no problem the second one just won’t connect -not sure why it even has to use an assisting  device that pops up on the screen. 
can anyone help me with this issue?

The only work around was to put the upstairs thermostat in a “new house”which I named upstairs. Then you just have to toggle between houses to adjust each nest divide.
