I have a new two stage heat pump backed with a gas furnace configured as the auxiliary heat source. The issue I’m seeing is that if the power goes out my generator is big enough to power everything but the heat pump so I’d like to configure everything in such a way that if the heat pump is offline or isn’t changing the house temp the thermostat defaults to aux heat.
three different Nest Pros have said it should work like that and that it should be possible, but none have made it actually work.
Anyone have a similar configuration and know the magic words?
