Unable to connect Nest Temperature Sensor

KNewell
Community Member

I have recently purchased two Nest Temperature Sensors. While trying to connect them (one at a time), the connection test fails. The app shows the Nest Temperature Sensor within the devices but the temperature shows 32°F and does not work. I have tried testing connection multiple times, different locations. I have also reset the sensor by removing the battery for 10+ minutes. There are no internet connectivity issues with other devices.

Hello KNewell,

Thank you for reaching out to us and bringing this to our attention. I'm sorry for the inconvenience you are experiencing with your newly purchased Nest Temperature Sensors. I'd like to take a look into this for you.

We appreciate the troubleshooting steps you have already taken, such as testing the connection multiple times, trying different locations, and resetting the sensor by removing the battery. Your detailed information is valuable in helping us diagnose the problem.

To further assist you, we recommend the following steps:

  1. Ensure that the Nest Temperature Sensor is within the recommended range of the connected device and has a clear line of sight.
  2. Double-check that the battery is properly inserted and that there are no issues with the battery compartment.
  3. Confirm that your Nest app and connected devices have the software updates.
  4. Restart your thermostat, and make sure to check that there's no connection issue with it. Inspect the power readings in the Technical Info, and the battery level should be at least 3.7 volts and above.

Keep me posted on how it goes.

Best regards,
Mark
