Upgrading Nest thermostats to latest version not recognized by the Nest App

Hi all,

I bought two original Nest thermostats for my new house 15+ years ago and they were recently obsoleted by Nest, as many as you know.    I installed two new Nest version 4 thermostats using the Google Home App and they show up there.  However, they don't show up on the Nest App.   I'm stuck controlling them from Google Home which I don't want to do.  I've tried reinstalling them with the Nest App but it tells me to use the Google Home App for installation and I arrive in the same place.   Why doesn't Google have their act together and let thermostats installed via the Google home app, the only option, then show up in the Nest App?

The 4th-gen Learning Thermostat only works with the Google Home App. At some point, the Nest app will go away.

Hi Patrick,

Well, that explains a lot...  Overall, I'm disappointed with the 4th generation thermostats.  They try to look super cool but have lost a lot of the functionality or so it seems.   The Nest App works way better with the cameras than the Google Home App.   In the Nest App you can scroll through history and events on the right side of the screed while in the Google home App you can just see specific historical events the app thinks are useful.  This is a severe reduction in functionality so hopefully the Nest App will be around for a while.
