Using different thermostat with existing link

MarkBown
Community Member

Hi

My thermostat seems to have developed a fault as it has all of sudden not been able to connect to wifi anymore and it says there is a problem with it. I think my thermostat is a Gen 2 or Gen 3 thermostat. Can I just buy a new Thermostat e unit and reconnect to my existing link?

Thanks

Mark

Hi @MarkBown

I have seen this question before and it seems that it may be possible but you will miss out features if you have an older heat link connected to a new device.

My advice would be to replace the heat link with the version that comes with your new Thermostat.

Check THIS link for all the different kind of version of the heat link.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry for the delay. I just want to ask if you were able to follow the advice above about replacing a heat link instead of the Nest Thermostat. Please keep us posted.

I appreciate your help, @RXShorty.

Best,

Jenelyn
