I am looking at installing a Nest thermostat in a holiday rental. I would like to be able to set up my thermostat and for the guest to say 'boost' the temperature for an hour if they are cold.
I understand that the Nest Thermostat can be locked and that you can set a range by which a guest can adjust the temperature. But I can't find anywhere that tells me how long this adjustment will last.
Will it last forever on that one heat - making my timed programme redundant? Will it last until my next programmed change of temp and revert to the programme? Can I make it last an hour only somehow e.g. by programming every hour even though it's the same temperature (e.g. if I wanted to set 18 degrees from 10am to 3pm would I have to set this every hour or something?).

I don't know anything about locks or ranges but I can answer the questions in your final paragraph. The guest's manual override will last until the time of the next set point in your schedule. So yes, you can make any such adjustment last only an hour by creating a set point every hour, as you suggest.

Thank you very much.

Unfortunately I now find that Nest doesn’t work with Vaillant boiler for load and weather compensation.

Hey there,
I wanted to check in, and let you know that I will be locking the thread in 24 hours.
Best regards,
