I’m currently looking at changing my old Horstmann room thermostat/programmer for the Nest Learning version but I have read mixed reviews on the learning function and unsure if it’s compatible with my current setup. I have done the compatibility check and believe it’s okay but don’t want to take the risk without guidance. I have also looked at other brands including Hive, Tado, Netatmo and Honeywell and they look easier to install as a DIY project.
My current setup includes an oil boiler, hot water cylinder, and thermostat/programmer. I have 4 wires to the programmer, red, yellow, blue and brown. The live is isolated but the others are connected to terminals. Having looked at the wiring diagrams for the nest none cover a 4 wire setup so questioning compatibility. Any help on this would be very much appreciated and also so reassurance as to whether the best would be best su item in comparison to the others I have looked at. Thanks

Thanks for reaching out. I'd love to know more about this. Could you share a photo of how your current thermostat is setup?
Thanks,
