Why isn't there a "Multiple Schedule" option?

davidbutts77

Please explain why there is not an option to set multiple schedules to toggle between depending on who is home.  I'm not looking for a work around by using the ECO mode or other features.  Instead, I (and many others) want the feature to set more than one schedule and to select which one we want on a given day.  This is a basic feature on most thermostats that came before Nest.

Please refrain from empty replies as to how you appreciate my feedback and that you'll look into it.  Instead, I want to know why Google refuses to add this feature.  Also, please do not lock down this thread until a satisfactory resolution has been provided.

Hello davidbutts77,

Thanks for posting—we hear you.

I understand Google Nest devices are indeed helpful in our everyday lives, especially if they work the way we want them to. The level of access from the primary owner to a home member is limited and depends on the usage or the features available. Check this link for more.

We value our customers' input. I'll bet other users would love to have this feature too. For the moment, you can use your Nest thermostat with its current features, but rest assured we'll take this as feedback. Stay tuned to our Google Nest Community Forum page for updates and announcements. For more help, reach out to our Google Nest Support page.

If there’s anything else I can help you with, please let me know.

Regards,

Mark

There is something else you can help with.  You can actually answer the question posted as to why Google has ignored this request for several years and refuses to add a very basic feature.

Contrary to your first sentence I never said Google Nest is helpful in my everyday life.  In fact, I expressed how it is not particularly helpful where every basic pre-Nest thermostat was helpful.  The link you provided does not, in any way, address the issue I brought up.

Please try addressing my concern, but for real this time.

Hi davidbutts77,

I know how important this is to you. Right now, we don't have any details to share if it's going to be available in the future, but rest assured that we'll take note of it—we'll ensure that we'll learn from your experience as we continually improve our products and services.

I am going to lock the thread in 24 hours. If you have any questions, please feel free to create a new post.

Regards,

Mark

Before you lock the thread could you please explain the necessity of doing so without providing a resolution?

With all due respect I simply do not have any reason to believe thay you'll learn from my experience when the only reliable response I've received from reasonable requests has been for Google to lock down the thread.

Is this really your idea of good customer service?

Hi there,

I apologize if this thread will close sooner than you would have liked. As Community Specialists, we occasionally do a bit of housekeeping to keep the conversations in our community fresh and relevant, this includes locking threads.

We really do appreciate you sharing your thoughts about having an option to create and select Multiple Schedule for Nest thermostats. Hearing suggestions like yours helps us make our products even better. We update products and features often, so you can keep up with the latest by:

In line with this, I also want to encourage you to use the feature of the Google Home App to where you can send us a feedback directly to our Product and Engineering teams for review by following the instructions in this Help Center article about share feedback about Google Nest.

Thanks,

Mark

Every time I (and others) have raised this issue, the thread gets shut down without any attempt at actual resolution.  Checking the help center over the last 4 years has been utterly fruitless.  As social media is a net negative on human civilization I do not have facebook or twitter and will not be utilizing either anytime soon.  I'll attempt the link on the help center that goes to Product and Engineering, but you won't be too surprised to hear that my expectations are extremely low.  All I want is a thermostat that has a basic feature that was available decades ago.  Too bad google is uninterested in making that a serious consideration.  If a fix is not provided soon, then I'll be replacing my nest thermostat with another brand.  Either way, I'll continue discouraging others from purchasing a Nest thermostat.

Thanks for nothing

Hey davidbutts77,

While I can't speak to the reasons why certain features might be included or removed from a product line, I can reassure you that your voice is heard when you submit feedback and we pass your comments along as a feature request. We have made sure our teams have seen your request and comments, and they are always taken into account on future hardware and software updates. Aside from the feedback, is there any other way I can help?

Thanks,

Jeff
