Why isn't there a setting to keep my thermostat set on Home, and not switch to Away, ever.

Asked before, got no help, just a link to what I'd already looked through, which provided NO solutions. Apparently, if you're too ill and don't respond to your thread by babysitting it, it gets locked. So here I am repeating myself.

This is what I originally wrote: Constantly checking the app and resetting it to Home when it switches to Away. I don't want it to switch to Away, I want it to STAY on Home. Obviously not designed for disabled or chronically ill people in mind. Not ADA friendly. There should be a default setting that allows it to stay on Home.

I changed one setting, the one for getting the thermostat to learn. Well, that was a huge mistake. Not only did that NOT fix the Home/Away problem, it was resetting my thermostat to temperatures I didn't want. So I undid it. Before Google took over NEST, I never had this problem, it always stayed on the Home setting. And I liked it then too. It even switches to Away at night, which I thought it wasn't supposed to do.

It has become very un-user-friendly, and a PITA. I was actually thinking of adding a NEST smoke detector. I've changed my mind, because I'll probably end up dealing with problems with that too. As it is, I'm seriously considering just replacing the thermostat, as it is clear to me that Google doesn't care about people with disabilities or who are chronically ill, and are HOME most, if not all, of the time. How hard it is for Google to add the option of leaving it set on HOME?

As it is, NO my issue was not resolved, I tried changing settings, I tried everything, I undid everything. No matter what I do, it still keeps doing this. And then I was too sick to reply to my original thread, went to it today and find it locked. I think I'm just going to rid my life of everything Google, bye-bye Chrome, hello Edge. Bye Android, hello Apple. Because Google sends a message loud and clear, making ADA friendly devices isn't a priority for them. So I will just rid myself of them, and let the disabled and chronically ill communities know of my experience, and to think twice before buying them.

I didn't see any value for the Home/Away feature of the thermostat, so I turned that off.  In settings, under Home/Away Assist, I selected "What decides if you're home" and then turned "Use Phone" and "Hallway" both to OFF.  ("Hallway" is the name of my Nest.)  After that, it has never switched to Away again.

As for the "raining" comment, the Nest gets it's weather information by using the location you specified while setting it up, and then just pulling the info from the internet.  If your location specified is not accurate or if it cannot connect to the internet, it will not show accurate weather stats.

And I just checked the app on my PC, and it says that it is RAINING outside. Funny, considering rain is not in the forecast until Saturday, and it's sunny out with clear, blue skies. Maybe this whole stupid device is just malfunctioning period. I don't think I can handle Winter with this nonsense, supposed to be avoiding stress, this is just creating it.

Under Home/Away/Assist I only have a setting for Eco Temperatures, which is set to OFF. There are no other settings. Hallway is also the name of my NEST. The location is correct, but it still said it was raining out, even though there was no rain for anywhere in the Delaware Valley in the forecast, not just my location.

Ah, just checked app on my phone, found those settings you mentioned. Phone was off, but Hallway was on. Hopefully changing setting on phone works, even though phone is only turned of half of the day.

I changed the settings on the phone, and apparently that worked. The NEST is staying on the HOME position, and no longer switching to Away. Thank you JohnCNA. Finally get a solution!
