Wi fi connection

Hi my thermostat disconnected from my wi fi  several days ago, I've reset thermostat, rebooted wi fi tried to manually type in network but it still won't connect. Any ideas please

Hey Lambo, 

 

Sorry to hear about your Nest thermostat not connecting to your WiFi network and also for the delayed response. I want to dig deeper into this. 

 

A few questions — what type of Nest thermostat do you have? Were there recent changes made on your WiFi network or thermostat before this started happening? Also, are you getting a specific message or a code on your thermostat display or Nest/Google Home app?

 

Tell me more so I would have something to start working on.

Hi Melba, its a learning thermostat, no issues with my WiFi. Thermostat message saying  Your network may be hidden or to far away.  Thermostat has been ok for last 2.5 yrs, not connected for the last 2months.

Obviously Thermostat still working but won't connect to app, been through all troubleshooting procedures. 

Spoken to my supplier and he had exactly same problem with his Thermostat.  Nest customer services here in the UK talked him through different procedures but to no avail so sent him a replacement.

Thanks for the information Let's check a few things: 

1. Do you only have one Wi-Fi network, or are there a few? If so, do any of them end in _ext?
2. Are you able to access the internet?
3. Has your thermostat ever successfully connected to your network?
4. Were there any recent network changes like a new router, network name, password or a recent move?
5. Are you seeing any messages when trying to connect your thermostat to your Wi-Fi network? If so, could you send us a picture of it?
6. Are your other devices experiencing slow internet speeds?
7. Are you controlling your thermostat from your app? If so, is your phone connected on a different Wi-Fi network?
8. What is the distance between the router and the thermostat?
9. Did you try these steps as well: https://bit.ly/38gTlup?
10. Go to Settings> Technical info> Power and take a picture of the power readings you see there.
