Wifi WPA3 encryption

Why has google embraced WAP3 encryption protocol for Wi-Fi without supporting learning thermostats with firmware upgrades? If you want to remotely manage and access your thermostat, which was a major selling feature, your only option is to down grade your Wi-Fi security encryption to WAP2!
