Installed in the winter, now need the AC to work.  As explained in the title, it will turn on for a few seconds, but shuts off immediately because the wifi disconnects.

The WiFi has absolutely toning to do with the Thermostat operation.  The symptoms you are describing are. Ore related to power availability.  Using your Nest App, select your thermostat, then tap the ⚙️ icon in the upper right. Scroll down to Technical Info and tell us what the battery voltage level is.

Let’s eliminate the the thermostat.  Remove the Nest display from the backplate.  Turn the power to the air handler OFF. Now remove the R wire and the Y1 wire from the base and hook them together. A metal paper clip will help.  Then turn the power on.  Does the AC a start and continue to run?

Yes it does. Before I turned it back again, the fan kicked in.

Did you go outside and verify that the outdoor unit is running?  I was hoping you would leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes to allow the system to stabilize. If you want, add the wire in G and the blower come on when the power is turned on.

The unit is definitely running and cooling down the house. I will reinstall the G as you suggested, but that doesn’t fix my problem, right? Thanks a lot for all your help.

Ok, so this indicates you have a defective Nest Thermostat then.  Put everything back together and then make a video of the problem.
