Will a European Nest Learning Thermostat work in North America?

Hello,

I would really like the Heat Link device for my new home in Canada that in-floor hydronic heating. If I can get my hands on a European Nest model that has this, I assume I'll have no issues make it work with my heating system here in Canada?

Google Home and Google Nest products are optimized to work best with specific Wi-Fi standards depending on where they are sold. This means if you buy a product intended for Europe, it may not work as expected, or may not work at all, if you try to use it in the US. This is because the 5 GHz band is regulated differently around the world.

Thanks, David. I never knew that certain Wi-Fi networks could be incompatible with certain systems. I'd think that wifi would be the same between Europe and North America.

Well, I think it's best to say here "better safe than sorry". Please let me know if me or any of my colleagues can do anything else for you.

In this case, I would actually just like to know 🙂 Heat Link sounds like the most energy-efficient way to manage in floor radiant, so if it works, I'd like to have it.

Thank you so much. In this situation we advise you to contact an installer to give you the best solution. The Eu version of the thermostat and the Heat Link needs to have 220-240V in order to operate properly. Do you have the means to contact one?

Hi there, just checking in with you. Did you manage to check the last message?

Thanks, @Vladut. That's a good idea. I'll get hold of an installer and see what they recommend and if they've installed heat links, before. Appreciate it.

Hi Vladut, I still need to find time to contact an installer, thanks. In the meantime, I'm still unsure of where to purchase an EU version of the Nest Learning Thermostat. As far as I know, my only option is to order via a europian Amazan page.

Thanks for the update. Regarding the place of purchase for an EU version, Amazon might seem a good ideea.

I still need to speak with an installer about this, so I'm good for now. Thanks
