Will a base Nest work when my old thermostat used jumper wires

ReedinVT

Hello,

My old thermostat used jumper wires. On Google’s help page it says nest thermostats don’t use jumper wires, but specifically mentioned nest learning thermostats and that they can accommodate for this. What about the base Nest Thermostat?

Thank you!

Hi ReedinVT,

Thanks for posting in the Google Nest Community forum. I'm sorry for the delay. Google Nest Thermostats do not use jumper wires. If your current thermostat has jumper wires, do not connect them to your Nest Thermostat.

Nest thermostat connectors are built so that only one wire can be inserted into each connector. Putting more than one wire into a Nest thermostat connector can damage your system and your thermostat.

You can visit this support article for your reference.

Best,

Jenelyn
