Wire jumper?

I previously had a Honeywell TH622001028 thermostat and I replaced it with a Google Nest Learning thermostat.  Now, my new Google Nest Learning thermostat doesn't immediately respond to heat setting commands.  For example, when I change the temperature, it takes sometimes 20 min for the heat pump and fan to initiate.  My DIY wiring install is as follows:

Honeywell --> Nest

W2 --> W2 Aux;  W -- > W1;  Y --> Y1;  G --> G;  RC --> RC;  C-->C

Did I wire this correctly?  I also noticed there is a jumper on the old Honeywell between R and RC.  On the Nest, should I jumper a wire between  RC and RH?  If so, I suppose I will need to pigtail since RC and RH tabs are on opposite sides of the Nest.

It seems like you've made a good effort to replicate the wiring from your old Honeywell thermostat to the new Google Nest Learning thermostat. However, the issue you're experiencing with a delay in the heat pump and fan initiation might be related to the wiring or configuration.

The Nest thermostats don't require a jumper wire as they have built-ins. With the said wiring setup you had, it appears to be incorrectly wired since you have a heat pump system and a wire in the O/B terminal should be used. With this, can you share with us a photo of your old thermostat's wiring and the Nest Thermostat's wiring setup? This would help us identify how it should be labeled.

Thank you for your response.  I am very glad you responded because I was going to reinstall my old thermostat since I am still experiencing delays in system response from the Nest. 

I do have a wiring diagram of my old Honeywell thermostat to my new Nest.  It is a .pdf or .jpg but I haven't figured out how to insert a picture into this thread.  There were 6 wires on the Honeywell so I mapped them to the Nest terminal contacts as I indicated in my initial text response above.

I do have a heat pump.  It is a Lennox merit series 14HPX unit.  Model number 14HPX-024-230-17.

After reviewing your response, I think I need to move my orange wire which is currently connected to the Nest W1 terminal to the OB terminal connector.  This should correctly connect my heat pump reversing valve to the system, right?  Also, while I am there, I will move my Rc to Rh, but I know that really doesn’t matter for the Nest since it has internal jumpers.

If you want me to send you a copy of my wiring diagram, send me your email or let me know how to insert a pic into this thread.  Please let me know if there is anything else I should do differently.

Hi Rick,

 

Thank you for providing additional details about your thermostat wiring. It seems like you've made a thoughtful analysis of the situation. Moving the orange wire from the Nest W1 terminal to the OB terminal for the heat pump reversing valve is a logical step and should help in correct system configuration.

Here's a custom wiring guide for your Nest Learning Thermostat wiring setup. Try reconfiguring them and restarting the thermostat to make sure the wiring changes prompt appears.
