Wiring Nest Thermostat

Community Member

The wires for our system are labeled W2 (blue), W/E (white), RH (red), Y (yellow), and G (green).  I cannot find any information on where to land the W/E (white) wire.  Does this mean my system is incompatible with a the Nest T-stat?

Hi, @Jaeger!

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I appreciate the detailed wiring information you’ve shared. I’m happy to help!

Based on the information provided, your system is compatible with all Nest Thermostat models. The E/W wire indicates you have emergency heat. This wire typically connects to the star connector terminal (*).

To determine the exact compatibility, please provide the following:

  • Please provide a photo of your previous wiring installation. This will help me visualize the wire connections.
  • If possible, a picture of your control board. It's usually located near the furnace. It will help me determine whether the W/E wire corresponds to emergency heat or the first stage of heating.

Additionally, please refer to this article to identify your thermostat model: How to tell which Nest thermostat you have.

Please keep me updated.

Best regards,

Ana
