Wiring Nest Thermostat

Dhall185

Question on wiring up a newly purchased Nest Thermostat (NON learning) model. Currently trying to wire up a single Thermostat for the downstairs portion (split system with two heat pumps, one downstairs, one upstairs)

The wiring has the following:

G

C

R

W1 (jumped from Y)

Y

W2

O

For reference, emergency heat is unnecessary and will be removed from the setup as it is not needed (live in coastal NC). From what I understand then is E and W1 are unnecessary to be wired. However, I am wondering how to wire W2 as well as the O. Assuming W2 would go to W and O then set to OB but wanted to verify first.

Thanks

Hey there Dhall185,

I'm so sorry for the delay in our response, but I wanted to hop in here to make sure we addressed your concern. I can definitely understand the confusion when it comes to thermostat issues as it can be very odd to figure out sometimes, but I'm happy to look into this for you.

First off, I would suggest using the Compatibility Checker to see if your system is compatible. Then I would also suggest reviewing this article as it goes through how to identify wires for the thermostat. Here is a link on contacting a pro to come out to help you with this in case you need it as well.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns as I'm happy to help.

Best regards,
