Wiring Question

I obviously have a 7 wire system.

Orange wire -> O/W2*

Yellow wire -> Y1

Red Wire -> R

Green Wire -> G

Blue Wire -> C

White (AND what looks like a brown or faded black) wire -> W/W1

Since I have 2 wires going to W/W1 how do I split them up in the next? Where does white go? Where does Brown (or possibly faded black) go?

All the other wires seem really straightforward

Sorry to hijack your post here. I'm just wanting in on the conversation. I, too, am experiencing install issues. Like you, I tried to follow the step by steps. I got all hooked up, things seemed fine, set the temp and shazam, the air conditioner kicked right on. "Life is great",I thought. In a few minutes,  I found that it was blowing hot air.

Like you, I had a confusion about that jumper wire that tied 2 posts together on my last thermostat.  There WAS a step in the instructions, before labeling all of the wires, that said "remove" such a bridge. I thought that it would be not necessary on the nest.

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues with wiring your Nest Thermostat. @michaelcarter72, could you check the control board of your HVAC system to see where the other end of the wires are connected to? @Stacik73, how's your Nest Thermostat wired?

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Edward
