Not sure where to plug the black wire on nest thermostat. I believe this is for a Honeywell true air system.

You need to look under your Google nest information via Google or go over to your YouTube and see if anybody has a similar issues and wiring information

Hello there,

Thanks for assisting, @Vinnyhartlove and Jeran.

I've got some information for you, @Hillbrandp. Different thermostat makers may use the * (star), which Nest Thermostats have, and universal (U, U1, U2) terminals to control the following:

  • HVAC accessories (i.e, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, and ventilators);
  • For high fan speed in a multi-speed fan system;
  • 3-stage of heating or cooling in a multistage HVAC system.

Let us know if you have more questions in mind.

Best,

Mark

Hello Hillbrandp.

Hello All,

Thanks for the replies and support! The reader's digest on the fix was that we did not connect the U1 wire (which was controlling a fresh air damper) and instead installed a regulator at the fresh air damper for its own control, therefore allowing full use of the Nest thermostat for heat and cooling needs.

Thanks again!
