Wiring might not be compatible

Ceanothus

My existing thermostat had red to D, white to C, yellow to B and green to A. The nest has totally different letters for each connection but some online tutorials said to connect red to R, white to W, green to G and red to R, so that’s what I did. It comes up saying to complete setup in app but I can’t get it to set up. Are these wiring connections correct?

Thanks but I gave up and returned the thermostat.

Hey Ceanothus,

Thanks for reaching out.

Based on the description of your current thermostat, you have a proprietary system. This isn't compatible with Google Nest thermostats. However, some proprietary systems can be rewired by a pro installer to be compatible.

Hey Ceanothus,

I understand — should you decide to give our Nest thermostats again a try in the future, you know where to find us.

Cheers,

Melba
