Hi setting up nest learning thermostat gen 3. On wiring have a green,yellow, white and a (red and black at rh position with the black connecting to Rc). Through a jumper wire. So question.. do i connect the red to the “rh” point and leave the rc open. Directions say to remove jumper wires?? Please reply

No jumpers are ever used on Nest or any smart Tstats.
Put the red in RC
If you have a spare wire in the cable you should connect it to C on the Nest and then go to your furnace and remove the cover, find the terminal screws where the thermostat wires connect, see if you have a C screw and connect it there also so you have a C wire (common wire). If you have a Trane furnace they call the common B.
By using a C wire you have a constant power to the Nest to keep battery charged. Sometimes you can get away without a C wire but if you have a spare wire in the cable it is best to connect it now to prevent power issues down the road.
