Wiring

i tried wiring both upstairs and downstairs zones. Downstairs worked fine.

Upstairs I followed the wiring from the attached photo, but hot air is blowing from vents when it should be cooling.

does anyone have any wiring tips?

From old thermostat to nest, i wired: R to Rc, W to W1, Y to Y1, G to G, C to C, and Y2 to Y2.

Your wiring looks good to me. You don't have a Y2 wire in either picture.

Post a picture of the zone controller's wiring.

Thanks, Patrick.

The white wire is connected to Y2 in the original thermostat.

i’m attaching the photo again.

where do I locate the zone controller?

if my wiring is correct, why is heat coming out of vents on cool setting?  I don’t have a heat pump to my knowledge.

My bad, I do now see the Y2 wire. The way it is wired shows that the system is a 1-stage heat, 2-stage cooling, which is different than the downstairs, which looks to be a 1-stage heat, 1-stage cooling.

How many HVAC systems do you have? One for both upstairs and downstairs? Or one for upstairs and one for downstairs.

The zone controller is generally mounted near the Furnace/Air Handler. You won't have a zone controller if you have two separate systems.

Post a picture of the terminal block on the control board in the furnace/air handler if you have a separate upstairs and a separate downstairs HVAC system.
