Hello,
I've a problem with my Nest Thermostat: the outside temperature is definitely wrong.
There is a difference of 9-10 degrees with the real one. (took by website and manually measured)
I already tried to change the zip code of the city, tried to search the address and use it instead of the zip but still no luck.
I have opened two cases in Google but still no solution. They told me to turn off/on the thermostat, to check on weather.com if my address is available (and it is) but aside this no real solution has been provided.
Do you have any idea on what I can try in order to fix the issue? The WiFi used by the thermostat is working fine.
Thank you.
p.s. I live in Italy (not sure if this could be the cause of the issue)

I'm having the same issue in the US. How did you go about filing a case with Google? I've seen several posts with the same issue for several years now and it has not been resolved yet.... Thx!

I’m having the same issue here in the U.S. as well…my thermostat says it’s 10 degrees warmer outside than it actually is. I’ve reset, nothing has worked so far.

Hey Cascadeconsult, dmp,
I wanted to follow up and ensure you are good to go. Please let me know if you are still having any trouble with the outside temp being off, as I would be happy to take a closer look and assist you further.
Best regards,
Jake

Hi Jake,
Yes, I am still experiencing the same issue. For example, today if you enter our zip code into google it returns a temperature of 22 degrees and it returns 30 degrees if you enter our city, state. The city, state temperature is more accurate but our Nest unfortunately uses the zip code. I would love it if we could find a solution. Thanks!

Nest learning thermostat installed yesterday. It shows an outside temperature that is 6-8 degrees colder than any of the internet weather services. As a result, the system will switch to alternative heat source when it shouldn't. Should I just set the alt fuel heat temp 6 degrees lower?

That is precisely my concern/question as we get into Winter weather. I'm not sure why we haven't received another response from Jake.

I’m having the same issue. The zip code is correct and the outdoor temp reported is 70 when my Davis PWS temp gauge (full solar shield, fan aspirated) reports 87. That’s such a wide margin as to be useless. Downtown should be even hotter —z close to 90. I should also add that you having this problem for YEARS and it’s not received a system-wide solution? Why not?

Hi guys, for me the solution is to change the address of the thermostat to a city close to mine.
In my opinion there's something wrong with weather.com that's not able to discover multiple cities under the same zip. I'm not sure on this, but when I moved the address to a city close to mine with a unique zip, worked perfectly. I know this is not a solution but at least a workaround. I'm living in Europe, Italy.

Alaska Temps outside 18F
Nest, negative 1
It's a joke I use and have since installed years ago. Alaska, negative 25, makes for a great thermostat picture to share when it's 15 degrees outside in REALITY.

Same problem here. It say we have 45F outside when we have 74F…

My app shows the correct 45f outside temperature but the thermostat shows a warm and sunny 75f. I have a heat pump and I’m not sure which temperature it uses to turn on the backup propane heat. I think it’s using the app temperature but it’s frustrating that the thermostat display shows weather from a completely different location.

I just joined this community. Don't see/know how to report problem.
Google is repeatedly reporting the wrong temperature for my location. (??) Almost 10° off...

My best thermostat shows 47 degrees F outside and the app shows 60 degrees F outside which is correct. Why don’t the app and the actual thermostat match?

Same issue. I live in Wenatchee, WA 98801. When I google "Wenatchee weather" it shows the correct temp. When I google "98801 weather" it shows an incorrect temperature about 10 degrees F lower. My Nest (3rd gen) is displaying the incorrect zip temp for outdoor. Please fix.
Update: My city is in a valley, but we happen to have a mountain and ski resort within the same zip code. I think the zip weather is pulling from that location. I wish Nest would use my full address to find the closest weather to me, rather than just using the zip. For now, I changed my zip code within Nest to another zip nearby with weather closer to mine.

My Nest 3 rd generation Learning Thermostat weather display has presented a correct curent temperature and forecast for my location since it was new several years ago. Recently, I changed internet providers and got a new network name and key. The new network is working flawlessly. As expected, the Nest thermostat indicated it had lost contact with the old network, and I entered the new network name and key. It connected perfectly and everything seemed fine. However, within the next few days I noticed that the weather display was drastically incorrect. The Nest app on my iPhone had the correct location. Contrary to the advice I found on this site, there was NO WAY to check or change the location under the Settings of the thermostat itself. There is no problem in getting the correct weather information for my location from the weather.com website
I don't understand why we can't get a clear answer from Google/Nest about this issue. My home living circumstances have made me rely almost exclusively on my NEST for current weather reports and daily forecasts. Is there a solution in the works, or is this a fatal bug?
I am at a loss for answers

Nest 3rd generation Learning Thermostat installed in June 2023. The outside temp shown on the thermostat is always about 10 degrees off. Please Google look into this longstanding problem for Nest users. Which address field is Google taking the outside weather from (Google personal settings, Google Nest, Google Home, within the thermostat itself)?
