heater blows cold air

I live in an apartment.  I wired the thermostat correctly so i thought.  I have the extra orange wire that when plugged in and set to heat, the heater blows cold.  When orange wire is unplugged, the heart blows hot but the cold doesn't blow cold.

If you have heat pum out side, Orange wire should connect to O/B terminal. Check this link see you can correct problems :

Sorry.  Probably should have noted in the post. When orange wire is plugged into the o/b the heater blows cold and the AC works perfectly / when orange wire is unplugged the ac just blows air but doesn’t cool down and the heater works perfect.

Check the link and find a section in it , you might have to do some adjustings in Nest software to correct problems.

Hello folks,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry. I'd be happy to check this out for you.

I appreciate your input and help here, @Land1.

@Codym2, it sounds like you've encountered an issue with your thermostat wiring, and it's great that you've already identified a potential culprit in the form of the extra orange wire. Troubleshooting thermostat problems can be a bit tricky, but have you had a chance to change your system's orientation from the article shared above? Make sure to connect the heat pump wire before making any changes. Also, it would be best if you could share with us a photo of your old thermostat and Nest Thermostat's wiring. This would help us identify is configuration.

Let us know how it goes.

Best regards,
Mark
