manual button not working

Manual button modes do not light up when push unit in, All functions work correctly from cell phone

nest learning thermostat.  when button is pushed the modes display is blank. So I can not manually adjust settings.  However, I can adjust with my cell phone.

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I'm sorry to hear you're not able to control the Nest thermostat manually through the display. I'd be happy to help!

 

To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:

 

  • Is the display showing the temperature, or does it have a completely black screen?
  • What color is the status LED light on the top of the display?
  • Did you see any error messages on the display?
  • Is this the first time you've experienced this situation? 
  • Would you mind sharing a photo of your Nest thermostat and the wiring configuration? 

In the meantime, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

 

  • Restarting your Nest thermostat: A simple restart can often resolve temporary glitches. Press and hold the ring on your Nest Thermostat for about 10 seconds until the screen turns off, then release it to turn the screen back on. The screen will show the Nest logo, then turn on as it finishes. You can refer to the next article: Restart or reset a Nest thermostat.
  • Make sure your Nest thermostat is securely mounted on the base. A loose connection might affect the display.
  • Check the Connector Pins: Remove the thermostat display from its base and check if any connector pins are bent.

Temperature and dial are light.

lights are white on black screen.  Orange and blue come on for heat and AC

No error messages.

three weeks ago but last week it malfunction.  The is my seasonal lake home. I can get pics next time i am the lake.  The Nest E learning is about 6 years old.

I can send pics  and reset later.
