nest user deceased need to remove account

I recently purchased a property from a deceased estate.

The nest thermostat will not let me attach it to my nest because it says it is already linked to an account - in this case a person unknown, perhaps deceased.

Any clues how to remove that person from the nest so I can add my own account details?

Factory reset usually does the trick
