I'm running a nest thermostat in the "Eco" when away from home for a few days/weeks. The thermostat is on 2-wire setup using a Google power connector. The thermostat recognizes the power connector. I have noticed that when the electric power to the house is lost and then restored (power outage) the thermostat is no longer in the "Eco" mode. The mode will switch to regular "Heat". This is causing the house to heat up without me requesting or knowing about it. This is something I would like to avoid. The current situation can result in weeks of unnecessary fuel consumption. Please let me know if there is a way to prevent mode switching in the event of a temporary power outage.

Hi darenty,
Uh-oh! I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing an inconvenience with your Nest Thermostat's behavior after a power outage. To prevent your thermostat from switching to regular "Heat" mode after a power outage, you might want to try this:
You can try adjusting the settings in the Google Home app or on the thermostat itself. Look for any power-related or recovery settings that might be causing the thermostat to default to "Heat" mode after a power outage, such as the Home and Away Routines and the Eco Temperature settings.
Also, here's an article to learn about Eco Temperatures and how to change settings, and the Nest Home and Away not working articles that might help.
Let us know if you have more questions.
Regards,
Mark
