Accessing homeassistant through Sky router connected to Nest Router Pro

Hi,

I am trying to access Homeassistant from the internet.

I have a SKY router connected to a Google Nest Router where the homeassistant PI is connected.

I have tried in vain to configure port forwarding on the SKY router (port 8123) to pass on to the Nest router with no success.

The config is as follows:

Eternal IP-SKY Router (internal IP 192.168.1.1) connect with fixed wire to Nest Router (IP 192.168.1.2) with uses IP address range 192.168.86.x for the internal network. The Homeassistant is on IP 192.168.86.x:8123

How do I configure the SKY router to pass on to the Nest Router?

Hi mogenshansen,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I understand that you want to configure your Nest Wifi router with your Internet main router and network. But no need to worry, help is here.

Before we get started with further details, let me ask you some important questions:

  1. Have you verified the port numbers you used from your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or router manufacturer?
  2. Do you have any upstream router not in bridge mode?
  3. Are you able to access your service locally?
  4. What device are you trying to do port forwarding with?

Internet Service Provider (ISP) Restrictions:

  • Port Restrictions: Some ISPs might restrict certain ports. Contact your ISP to inquire about any limitations.

Contact Router Support (manufacturer): Contacting ISP or main router’s manufacturer support is recommended. They can provide more specific troubleshooting steps based on your device model and any error codes you might be encountering.

In case it helps, you can also review this article to know about the Port forwarding or port opening.

Please keep me posted.

Regards,

Mario
