Hi I have a wifi nest and I’ve run a cat 6 cable to my shed as it’s too far away to get a decent signal.
I’ve tried to add the router to the network using Google home app and get the attached error message. Can anyone give me tips on how to sort this out.
note I’ve tried connecting the new router just via wifi in main house first (not connected to cat 5 cable) to get it set up before moving to the shed
error msg:
googlehomefoyer-pa.googleapis.com:443:[field:hostname lookup error:address lookup failed for google home foyer-pa.googleapis.com.:errorCode-65568]

Hi Piezaa,
Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry that you're having trouble setting up your second Google router on your Google Mesh Network. I understand how frustrating this can be. I'm here to help.
Before I begin, I need to ask a few questions for further assistance:
What operating system are you using while setting up your Google device? (Android or iOS)
Have you tried connecting the Google Point in a closer location and then moving it to the location where it will be working?
What model of Google router or point are you trying to set up?
Please keep me posted. I'll look forward to your response.
Regards,
Kevin

Hi Piezaa,
Thank you for your response and all the information provided. Let's work together for a solution.
To set up your second router, you'll need to configure it as an access point since you already have a primary router. If your internet provider gave you a modem/router combo unit, disable its Wi-Fi function. It's also essential to use a unique name and password for your Wi-Fi network. Once these settings are in place, you should factory reset your Wi-Fi device. Once this device is ready to be paired in the Google Home app, follow the steps to connect it. If the distance is too long, try to move the device closer to the main router just to be able to configure it without problems.
Let me know how it goes and keep me posted.
Regards,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
just to clarify, the steps are :
turn off the internet service provider modem / router
2) plug in the second router I’m trying to add and factory reset it (leaving primary router plugged in)
3) turn back on the internet service provider router / modem
4) using Google home app add the second router as an access point without Ethernet cable connected
5) once set up I can plug into Ethernet cable and on Google home I can set it is as a wired access point? Is there a specific port I need to plug it into?
thabks

1) turn off

Hello, Piezaa.
Thanks for reaching out to our Nest Community. We are so happy to assist you with your questions about the Google Nest Router.
As I understand it, you have already completed the setup of the access point, and it is finished; then you just have to connect the ethernet cable to the free port on your first Google router (next to the icon <…>). and connect it to your second access point in the green port that has a circular icon.
If you have carried out the process correctly, it should work without problems; you do not need to make any changes in the Google Home app.
Let me know how it goes and keep me posted.

Kevin

Hi Kevin,
still no luck - any ideas what the actual error code is suggesting the problem is?

Could it be a faulty unit? It was straight out of the box? Is there a factory reset button or anything worth trying?

Hi Piezaa,
Thank you for your response. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. Let's work together for a solution.
As I mentioned before, here's an article to guide you through factory resetting your device: Factory reset your Wi-Fi device. I've also included this article on how to properly configure your network: Set up Nest Wifi Pro or Nest Wifi. Please follow the instructions in these articles carefully. If you're still having trouble after the reset and network configuration, let me know. If possible, try the setup process on another phone or tablet.
Let me know how it goes and keep me posted.
Regards,
Kevin
