I've had my eero wifi mesh for several years and used to manage it via the Google WiFi mobile app. I hadn't used the management app in 1-2 years, but recently tried to connect because my older Epson printer can no longer connect. When I opened the Google WiFi app, it told me I need to use the Google Home app to manage the WiFi. I downloaded the Home app, but can't add my Google WiFi. It searches for a short while, then goes back to the device selection screen. I've tried resetting my eero hub AP. Not sure what I'm missing.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding because the Google Wifi app only managed Google Wifi, not third party products, such as Eero. The Google Wifi app was retired some time ago, hence the message you saw when opening the app. Google Wifi is now managed in the Google Home app. If we set aside Eero for now, as that's not a Google product, follow these steps to migrate your Google Wifi network to the Google Home app:
