Hello! I have a Nest router, and a 2nd router as a wifi point running just fine in my Home. I bought a 3rd Nest router to extend coverage and I cannot connect it to my existing Home.
When I try to set up the new router (as a nest wifi point) using Google Home, it takes me all the way through the setup process, recognizes the device, lets me scan the QR code in, and asks me the following: "Google Home wants to join Wi-Fi network setupxxx.ybd". This is the network which is printed on the bottom of the new router (not my Home....). It then tells me: "unable to join the network setup:xxx.ybd?" ........ I understand that this is wrong, it should be asking to join my home, not it's own internal setup network.
It is either not recognizing my existing wifi Home for some reason, and/or not allowing itself to be recognized as an additional "point" rather than a router. Very very very frustrating. I've factory reset everything, re-started my Home, I already do have a 2nd router setup as an additional point... I really don't know what else to try. but I'm obviously doing something wrong 🙂 Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!!!!

Dear all, thanks to this community my particular problem was solved. The issue was that my new router was from a different region than my original ones - so my Home simply did not recognize the new router. I just installed the new replacement router and it joined my Home with no issues. Thanks to EdwardT and everyone for your help! So, if you are having an issue like mine, there is a good chance your router is from a different region. I’ve been told that happens sometimes on Amazon especially through 3rd party sellers. Cheers! I’m in exactly the same boat, only I have three working and the fourth refuses to connect. Hopefully someone can shed some light on it.

I had one of a set that did not want to connect. Might walk through the reset procedure. But that did not work for me. I had to return that set and start over. In my case, I could not add it even if it was sitting 2 feet away on the same shelf...

I have the same problem. I have 2 nest routers that have been working for close to 2 years. I just got a new nest router with same firmware as previous routers but fails to mesh with previous routers.
Is the solution to factory reset all routers and start from scratch? I haven't tried yet, but I think that is what bcdrummer already tried?

Hi folks,
Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues with setting up your Nest router as a point. This shouldn't be an issue if you're also using a Nest router as the parent point. I'd love to know more about this and I have a few questions:
Looking forward to your response.
Thanks,
Edward
