Cannot remove Google Wifi Point

JohnX

A Google wifi point that is on my Google Home App was destroyed by my housekeeper on accident.

Since it requires a "factory reset" to remove from the app, which is now impossible, I cannot remove it from the app.

This is either a terrible design flaw, or I'm missing something. Any input or advice would be appreciated!

Hello @JohnX

You should be able to remove the now-dead Google WiFi unit from your network through the Google Home app by doing a factory reset from within the Google Home app. Here is a link to instructions for doing that: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/6246619?hl=en

Don't reset the router and points, just follow the instructions to factory reset one point. That will remove it from your network without having to use the manual factory reset button.

Hello and thank you for this answer.  However, it does not let me factory reset that point as it cannot "connect" to the broken device.

Sorry – I can't test that here myself, but this was the way to solve this problem in the older Google WiFi app. If it doesn't still work in the Google Home app, you may need to factory reset the whole network (unfortunately).

Hi, JohnX.

I just wanted to jump in real fast to see if you tried the factory reset on your devices to see if that cleared things up. If you have and are still having issues, please let me know and we can continue to look at options.

Thanks.
