Cannot remove factory reset mesh point

Atayshoat

Hello, I couldn't make a mesh point connect after I added it to the network. If wasn't reacting to anything so I manually reset it and added it again, but now It's there twice and I can't find a way to remove the "offline" version of the same mesh point.

Thanks for the reply! I can't remove a single device because the app wants to talk to it first. I can probably delete the entire home and set it up again. It takes ages to factory reset everything so I am looking for some normal way to remove one faulty device. Having to delete the entire home each time a wifi access point fails seems a like a terrible way to do it.

I was thinking about the "Remove specific devices from a home" alternative. I agree that deleting the home or factory reset the whole network are not acceptable solutions.

So you can't delete that offline device by:

  1. Open the Google Home app olavrb_0-1671998722688.jpeg.
  2. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  3. Tap Settings olavrb_1-1671998722942.pngolavrb_2-1671998722949.pngRemove device olavrb_3-1671998722952.pngRemove.

You could also try to factory reset the device, even though it's offline and not responding, according to:

I can see that others have had similar problems without a solution.

So if you can confirm above methods do not work, I'll escalate this thread.

It seems I can't long press on a device, both tap and long press takes me to device detail where I only learn that device is offline. I can go into options of the device and "Factory reset and remove", but it does nothing since the app won't remove it when not in contact with the device. In the thread the user posted that this removed the device, but I see only a rotating yellow circle and nothing happens. Tried for 10 mins. I removed an offline Nest camera with no problem through the Nest app. But Google Home refuses to remove Google Wifi access point if it cannot contact it and it's not in the Nest app. So I am in the same bucket as the user when could not remove the access point.

Hey folks,

@olavrb, appreciate your helpful response.
@Atayshoat, I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. Could you try uninstalling and reinstalling your Google Home app? Make sure to clear the cache before you reinstall. If that doesn't work, try using your Google Home app with a different phone or device. Let us know how it goes.

Best,
Abi
