DNS resolution failed for service: googlehomefoyer-pa.googleapis.com:443

My Google mesh stops working almost every month. Nothing works except factory reseting the entire network. Now I am trying to add the units back and the main router installed successfully but I can't get wifi.

I tried updating the DNS to 8.8.8.8 recommended in AT&T forums (now conveniently closed) but the Google home app is not accepting the setting.

before I did this, the satellite units had stopped working. I again keep getting this error - DNS resolution failed for service: googlehomefoyer-pa.googleapis.com:443

I have Google nest wifi pro - 3 units set up

Can someone please help?

Hi shakerattleroll,

Thank you for reaching out to our community.

I’m sorry to hear that your Google Mesh stops working every month and you need to factory reset the entire network to restore its functionality. I understand how frustrating it is that now that you are trying to add your Google Nest WiFi pro and the 3 points back, you can’t get the WiFi network, even though the main router is installed successfully. Thank you for sharing this important information, such as trying to update the DNS to 8.8.8.8 recommended in AT&T forums and the error that you are getting: “DNS resolution failed for service: googlehomefoyer-pa.googleapis.com:443." I would be more than pleased to help you with this inconvenience, so don't worry.

Based on the information you shared with us, I can recommend trying to change the DNS. Please follow these instructions:

  • Open the Google Home app.
  • Tap on favorites (heart icon).
  • Tap WiFi, then go to Network Settings (the gear icon), then tap on Advanced Networking.
  • Tap DNS.
  • Select Custom, then enter "8.8.8.8" and "8.8.4.4.".
  • Tap Save.

Please, keep me posted.

Best regards,

Virna
