Device List in Google Home are incorrect

tpo

I periodically check the devices connected to the wifi using the Google Home app.  However when looking at the specific device list, I often find incorrect formation.  For example, I have devices connected to my guest network (verified by going to the network settings of the device itself) but Google Home reports it as connected to my primary network.  Equally troubling is the list reports devices connected as "wired" even though they are wireless or vice versa.

I've tried restarting the app, accessing the information via other devices, restarting the wifi pucks themselves, none of which provides a solution.

Hi, tpo.

Sorry for the confusion you're having with the devices showing improperly. This is actually part of a known bug that we're tracking with other users as well. Yes, guest network stuff is often showing up as a wired device or the other way around. We're looking into the cause of this, and hopefully there will be a fix coming at sometime soon. Are you having any network performance issues at the same time, or is it limited to the displayed devices?

Thanks

There's no others network issues or behaviors other than the devices on the guest network seem to take an extra few seconds to connect to the internet after it connects to the network (device will initially report the at the network does not have internet and ask if I still want to connect)

Hi, tpo.

I just wanted to check in so you didn't think I had abandoned the thread here, but I'm still waiting to hear back more from an internal team on this. I'll update when I know more.

Thanks.

I just bought a Google WiFi 3-pack today and the first thing I noticed was the device list is incorrect.  It shows wireless only devices as wired, and everything shows as connected to the primary AP (aka the Router), with my other two Points not having a single device connected to them.  The last update in this space was 3 months ago.  Any progress on fixing this?

I have the same problems listed above. Devices connected over wifi are showing wired (applies to both primary and guest networks) and the one device I connected to the guest network shows as being on the primary network (I was able to successfully pause internet access to this device though).

I am using a google wifi 3 pack purchased about 4 years ago

Same problems for me as well purchase the Google WiFi 3 pack last week. Shows wired for some wireless devices and some devices don’t even show up in the list. I am using the WAN port on all three APs if that matters. Both points down stream of the Router though; a supported config. I think the management software is just broken.

I hate that this is the “best” way to get help on an issue. I have a Google Mesh system (router and multiple points throughout). My issue is with the Google Home app incorrectly identifying devices (mixing them up) and indicating they are paused when they aren’t.   We recently had a lightning strike on our home so this could be the result of that incident. However, the devices indicate they are in proper working order so I don’t know. But with 5 kids all who have multiple devices on Wi-Fi (school and rec related), I MUST be able to properly identify whose device I am dealing with and whether it is receiving appropriate work signal!
