GOOGLE WIFI MESH weak

I have 3 WIFI for 2 points.  The main one is in the livingroom connected to my Fios router/modem.  The 2nd is in my bedroom (next to livingroom)  the 3rd is in my detached garage 10 feet from the bedroom

Overall each one is 10-12 ft apart.  The garage still weak signal and therefore my MyQ garage door open will not work by remote.

Frustrating as it was bought for the garage signal.  Oddly I can go outside the other side of my house and have 5 bars from my home wifi but the garage side I don't which is why I bought them.  Nothing works. Why?

Let’s first ask you to tell us what the garage construction is made up of.  Wifi does NOT play nice with: concrete, cement, foil possibly over your insulation, steel as in your fire door required by law.  Along with maybe steel support beams.  Any combination of the aforementioned materials will block and restrict your signal.  Let us know

Standard garage made of wood with vinyl siding from the 50s for 60s.  Vinyl siding on my house as well.  No insulation in the garage.

Ok thank you for the insight.  Next questions.  The repeater in the garage, near a window? The repeater in the house that needs to supply the wifi to the garage, near a window facing the garage?

No windows in the garage. In bedroom its next to window on night stand

Ok let’s try a chart step.  Move the garage repeater outside of the garage and test.  Let’s see if line of sight helps Improve the signal. We can talk workarounds after if it works

Did several test.  I put bedroom router in windows and garage router outside hanging it from the side door directly across from the window (9ft).  Got great single. Put it back in garage and got weak with door open and closed on a shelf above the door and also shelf about 2 ft from the door but still straight sideline to the bedroom window.  I have vinyl siding on garage

keep in mind that though the siding is vinyl you have metal attachment points.  I know it’s confusing but wifi dislikes metal.  Might I suggest a cheap wood birdhouse that you seal for water and to keep birds out obviously so that you can install  the repeater outside of the garage inside the fake birdhouse.  Just a thought

I can try find a small box I can waterproof seal and mount to the vinyl siding.  I have to drill hole thru the siding for the plug .

One odd thing is I showing 5 bars on wifi but still  got weak signal.    The MyQ app will not work since the signal weeks.  Just records each time the door opens and closes .

It will probably take couples weeks to do this.

Hey, Andrewr.

It's been a while since you and S3bryan were discussing this. I was just hoping to check in real fast to see if you were able to try out the suggested steps and to see if you got this sorted out. If you still need more time, that's fine. I just wanted to see where things were at.

Thanks.
