Google Home App unable to detect Google Wifi routers on Android

I installed Google Wifi mesh (3 points) right out the box and faced no issues. Seemed pretty easy plug-and-play process. However, I did a factory reset of the 3 Google-wifi router system two-weeks ago due to an unrelated ISP provider issue and the wifi system hasn't worked since.

As others have also noted, the Google Home app refuses to add the Google Wifi after the factory reset. When I add a new device in Google Home app, then I add Google Wifi (with the specific code), it starts to add the wifi point but gets stuck after a while and gives the following error: 'Something went wrong' 'Looks like we lost contact with your Wifi point. Please ensure that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are still enabled, and try setup again.

I'm attaching related Google Nest Community Forum posts that describe this exact same issue without any solutions.

I would appreciate any help in resolving this issue.

Regards

Have you deleted the old network from your Google Home home before trying to set up a new main/ master Nest Wifi puck?

Are you using any VPN on your Android phone used for the setup process? This must be disabled during the setup process.

What IP address does the main Nest Wifi puck get from your ISP equipment/ modem; is it a public/ global IP or a typical local/ LAN IP? If the last you likely have double NAT, any equipment in front of the main Nest Wifi puck should be in bridge mode.

Hi olavrb,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I deleted the old network before trying to set up the new main wifi. I'm also not using VPN on my Android phone.

I'm going to research the double-NAT. If I have LAN IP, how do I setup the Wifi in bridge mode?

Thanks again!

It's the modem you must put in bridge mode, not Nest Wifi. How depends on modem brand, model and ISP.
