I have a Google network setup, bought a Mesh Router 3 pack a few years ago and have had multiple issues since the beginning. We just switched to a new ISP and I would like to remove the Google network and just connect Google Home and all my devices to the new WiFi network. Has anyone done this?
I have separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks. Can I just name my new 2.4 network the same as what my Google network was (with same password), unplug my Google router, and will my devices just connect to the new network? Then change the Home Network Settings. And, can I then use the 2 extenders as just speakers, not wifi extenders? Will this work? Am I forgetting anything?
I have several Google devices (speakers, thermostat, TV's) along with smart switches that I have added to my Google Home.

Hello @GW9,
Thanks for posting in the community.
I understand the frustration of dealing with multiple Wi-Fi network issues. Switching to your new ISP's router is a great step towards a more stable connection. Here's how you can proceed:
While it's technically possible to use the same network name (SSID) and password as your old Google WiFi network, it's generally not recommended. This can sometimes cause confusion for devices trying to reconnect. It's better to create a new network name and password for your new ISP router. Once your devices are connected to the new Wi-Fi network, open the Google Home app and update the network settings for each of your Google devices (speakers, thermostats, TVs, and smart switches).
Unfortunately, Google WiFi points cannot function as standalone speakers once disconnected from the Google WiFi network. They require a connection to the mesh network to operate.
I hope this information helps you transition smoothly to your new ISP's router! If you have any further questions or encounter any difficulties during the process, feel free to reply to this post, and I'll be happy to assist you further. Thank you.
All the best,
Jorge
