Google Nest Point unable to connect…

JMHanna

I have Google Nest Wi-Fi (one router and one point). The point stopped working. I tried factory resetting the point, restarting router, etc. The point will flash white (ready to set up) and Google Home app will find the point. I then enter the 8-digit code from the point, and the point turns steady blue. But then I get a message saying the point can't be connected and to make sure the local network access is authorized. But the local network access is already authorized, so I can't proceed with setup if the point any further...

I once ran into this issue, try setting the point as the router, and the router as the point. If your using the nest wifi 2nd gen, my best bet would be to message or call Google Support.

Thanks for responding!  I don’t know which generation my Nest is, but while the router has an Ethernet port for the modem, the point has no port (only the power cord)…

this means you have 2nd gen nest wifi ( the point should have an enabled google assistant) my best bet would be to contact google for further help.

Oh yeah, there's a good idea for you. I can tell from personal experience that you're better off asking your dog to teach you French. Nobody at Google can fix what is a flawed product with outdated firmware.

It's a bad product, period. Whatever workarounds you have to employ in order to patch your mesh together won't work for long. There is something fundamentally broken in the way these devices assign IP addresses. Bite the bullet and get something else. I switched to the eero, and even though it was expensive the performance is exponentially better.
