Google Nest WiFi (non-Pro) Matter support

LawrenceBridger
Community Member

The Google support site (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9583920?hl=en-GB&ref_topic=9831837&sjid=118159086917375...) states:

Coming soon: Nest Wifi will receive software updates that will enable Matter, the new universal standard that simplifies smart home compatibility and setup. This makes home devices faster and more reliable.

My question is simple.  When is "coming soon" ?  Are there any guidelines as to when this update can be expected?

This has been discussed previously, Google hasn't given us a date.

I escalated this thread in hopes of getting more info.

I don't work for Google.

Thank you for the escalation!  I appreciate it has been asked before but would have hope that after almost 18 months a date might have been forthcoming.

Hi LawrenceBridger,

Thanks for reaching out. While we can't provide an exact date for the Matter update to your Google Nest Wifi, our team is working hard to deliver the best experience for our users.

  • Google initially announced the Matter update for Nest Wifi as "coming soon" in December 2022.
  • In February 2023, the Google Nest Wifi Pro received the Matter update as part of a larger software rollout.
  • There is no official update on when the standard Nest Wifi models will receive the specific Matter update.

I'd suggest you submit feedback about it; here's how. Keep an eye on the Google Nest Community  page for any updates. Please let me know if you have other questions or concerns, we're here to help

Thanks for helping, olavrb!

Best,

Dan

Hi Dan

Thanks for the update.  I'll keep my eye on the Nest Community.
