Google Nest Wifi Router - Factory Reset produces solid white light, not slow flashing

RollingRocks
Community Member

I purchased this in October, 2021.  I recently added another set of routers/points and did a factory reset.

I cannot get this particular router to reset.  I also did a "erase home" and recreated the network.  This router does not show up anywhere.

Any suggestions?

Hi RollingRocks,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with resetting one of your Google Wifi devices. I'd love to know more about this. Is the status light of the Wifi point not changing when pressing the reset button?

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Edward

Thanks for the reply.

It will change to flashing orange, then solid orange  until it goes through the reset process. At the end, it then goes to solid white.

Hi RollingRocks,

Thanks for letting us know. I just want to make sure we're doing the reset correctly. Are you releasing the reset button when it's solid yellow? In some cases, the reset would take up to 10 minutes. You could click on this link to learn more about this.

Thanks,

Edward

Yes - I hold it for about 10 seconds until it flashes a solid yellow. Then it takes a while to go through the routine and then becomes a solid white.

Hi Edward,

I set the router and the network and it worked perfectly for approx. 30 minutes. After that the router, apperently, stope working, and I could no longer find the network I had set in any devices. Google Home was shoing the device as offline (although my modem was still running perfectly).

I then deviced to factory reset the Nest Router by pressing the buttom until the yellow light stops pulsing, etc, etc (followed the steps that you can find anywhere in the internet). However, after the "completion" of the reset process, I end up with a solid white light at the router, instead of the pulse light that should indicate the router is ready to set. This happens every single time I try to reset the router (I probably tried 50 times already, I am stubborn).

No device can recoginize the router as a wifi connection, but the other two access points are still recoginized by any devices although have no internet connection.

It looks like the router simply stopped working, has no connection what so ever, and can no longer be factory reset.

Hi Edward,

The Google Nest router started to work again, out of nowhere. I left the router pluged but without the network cable connected to my modem, and at some point, the solid white light started to blink again, and I was finally able to recoginize that device in my network and Google Home.

Now everything is set and the mesh network is working fine. I still have no clue what might have happened, but it seems to be sorted out.

Thanks.

I have received nothing. Nothing in my spam folder either.

should I have heard something by now?

I have filled out the form again.  I have double checked the email address.  Also - since I'm giving my phone number in the form, why can't someone just call me?
