Hi,
Can I block specific websites on Google Nest? Like Roblox and Fortnite or other websites?

Hello @Roben
This isn't the sort of thing that's actually all that easy to do at the network level. It may be possible to do it from the client device itself, though. I know we used Microsoft's Family management features as well as Apple's "Screen Time" features to limit web sites (as well as budgeting total screen time, etc.). I would suggest looking into those tools, since they should be significantly more effective.

This is a common feature on routers. I’m baffled as to why Google would eliminate this feature as it was present on the Google Wifi app but not the Google Home app.

Agree.. it's very disappointing. Should be able to block specific websites and particular times for example when school work is on. Most homework is online now and need to control what websites can be accessed.

With Covid and other outbreaks occurring, most school work has been moved online. I understand the safe search feature and blocking adult content but kids these days are more into gaming. How can I keep my kid on track when I tell him to do his school work and I’m busy the entire day working and he only completed 20% of what was required that day. If he’s falling behind because I’m unable to stop him from accessing game sites…..what makes me want to stay with this service when ATT has that ability. You guys may be faster but if I have to sacrifice the speed and quality for the ability to try and make my son focus and have a good life in the future, I will do that.

Echoing what everybody else has said in the hope it will help Google notice. DNS-based site blocking has been around forever and used to be available on the Google Wifi app. Please bring this back.

Hi all,
I just wanted to jump in and mention that I've passed your feedback along as a feature request. I can see how that functionality would be useful for you to filter and block specific sites. For now, we recommend a 3rd party solution. If you have any other questions, let me know.
Thanks,
Jeff

Not to be obtuse, but did I miss something? Did Google add DNS site blocking or is “I hear you” the resolution?

Hi skillion,
At this time I don't know of any plans to add DNS blocking or filtering directly into the Nest or Google WiFi products. As mentioned earlier, a 3rd party solution is generally recommended to handle any filtering needs. While it's not planned now, it doesn't mean that it won't ever be part of the product's feature set, so passing along customer feedback is always important.
Thanks,
Jeff
