Google Wi-Fi

I just purchased Google Wi-Fi so I can extend my internet coverage in my house.  I am trying to connect the first point which sits right next to the Modem.  I have followed instructions and after naming and assigning a password, I get an error stating it cannot connect to the internet.  How long does it take for the Google Router to connect to my modem?   Is there anything further I need to do?  Anyone with Ideas I am ready to listen.

Hi. So I spent probably 8 hrs today trying to do exactly the same thing (which is why I’m writing this at 2 am :)). I successfully connected 2 of 4 which I feel was miraculous. I’m an Apple user. One problem apparently is iOS and the Google home app. I guess they don’t get along well. I connected the first unit successfully with Ethernet to fios gateway eventually after shutting off my VPN. For the second point though I restarted the modem multiple times, moved closer to the hub etc. even downloaded blue stacks to try and use android apps on my pc (failed - couldn’t get a Google home app). Final success occurred when I just plugged the 2nd unit into the modem using another Ethernet. It set up properly. Then I disconnected it and plugged it in where I wanted it wirelessly, and it still worked. When the set up is working the right way it’s maybe less than 2 minutes.   Good luck!

I appreciate your understanding. I spent almost 2 hours on the phone with Google yesterday. We could not even get the first point to connect. Turned off VPN, did a factory reset and also attempted to set up a different unit. Nothing worked. I have an iPhone and we tried everything that she could think of. Deleted and reinstalled Google home app, rebooted my phone and nothing seemed to work. I have to say I am a little disappointed that all the hype about Google seems to be for the lucky and the few. I will try again another day or return the units and try something else to get internet in my basement rec room.

All of the information I have located talks about the Spectrum Modem/Router combination.  I do not have that and only the Spectrum Modem and it will connect to Google Wifi.  Next step may be to purchase my own modem and see if that works.
