Google Wifi Point

Marvyn

I just bought the Google Wifi Point system which came with 4 of them and I am having problems with connecting additional points. The very first one I connected is fine since it is connected to my Modem. Does that mean the one connected to the Modem is my router? If that's the case then I am fine. When I tried connecting another 2 points, it doesn't let me since there is no wifi connected to them. Every time I put the QR code to connect, it makes me join the point acting as if it has wifi in it when it doesn't since it's placed around my house. I try to connect to it and it keeps telling me "Connection Failed". What am I supposed to do from here?

Hi Marvyn,

Thank you for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with setting up your Google WiFi points. You're correct, the one that is connected to your modem is acting as your router. The other 3 would be your child points and should connect to the point that is hardwired to your modem. I'd love to know more about what's happening and I have a few questions:

  • What's the light status of your Google WiFi point that isn't connecting?
  • How far is the point that you're setting up from the parent point?
  • Is the point that you're setting up broadcasts a setup network name?

You could also check this link to learn more about setting up additional points.

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,
Edward
