Google Wifi download less than upload speed for new ISP connection

I have a new ISP connection, 200mbps. Using their router i reach 200m on upload and download. When i plug google wifi into their router OR directly into the modem I get 120m download and 200m upload on the speed test. Its definitely not the ISP connection as i tested that, so something odd is happening with google wifi. Any ideas why download is limited but upload is not?

Hello Jeff, Sorry I didnt get back to you - yes I am still having the issue. Did a speed test on the Home app and got the same result ~120mbps on the downlaod and 200mbps on the upload. Very strange. Any suggestions?

So far I havent do much trouble shooting past confirming it seems to be the Google wifi thats the issue. When I speed check the ISP provided router directly I get the full 200/200.

Not sure how this one slipped by, I apologize for the delay here. Since it's been a while, I wanted to ask if things were still showing up with unreliable speeds or if they improved. Your situation was definitely interesting, and I'm sure frustrating, with the download speed being below upload. It's just not something we see almost ever. Let me know if this is still happening and if we need to jump back in on troubleshooting here.

As an update for you, I wanted to let you know that we have a firmware update coming out now. Some people may have already received the update, but most will see it coming still. Everyone will have it before the end of April. If you receive that update and don't see an improvement in your issues here, please let me know and we can keep looking into things.

Just to give a bit more info, the update version for both Google WiFi and Nest WiFi will be 14150.43.80. If you are seeing a different version number when you check in Google Home, you have yet to receive the updated firmware. Let me know if you have any questions about that.

Thanks Jeff, current version is 13729.57.27

can i update the version manually or do i just have to wait until it gets pushed out?

Hey again, Pete876. 

The updates are automatic, so you don't need to do anything to make them happen. Sometimes a network restart (you can do that through the app) will prompt the download if it's ready, but generally it will just update when possible.

Hi Jeff,

I hope it's okay that I jumped in, but I'm experiencing the exact same issue. I have 1GBPS connection and the wifi test built into the Google Home app has been locked at 93.4/ 89.54 (down/up) for almost a month straight with literally no changes (it might fluctuate 1mbps up or down). 

 

Any ideas on what I can do to fix this issue?

Still no change for my issues not sure a patch has made any difference
