I have absolutely no idea if labels are correct for this post, or if this question I have was addressed in another post/stream, but I am trying to reserve an IP address for my linux 20.04 server on the router level rather than configure netplan settings. I am disappointed in the limited control we have when choosing the device(s) to set up the reservation. When I go into Google Home App and go into advanced network settings --> DHCP IP Reservations---> tap plus sign --> look for linux server in the list (which inconveniently is categorized by MAC addresses) I find instead the correct Mac address associated to my server, but the hostname is wrong. Is there any way to "clear cache" so the right hostname populates with my server MAC address? restarting my network does not shake it loose, and the device associated to the wrong hostname is also powered off for the time being.

Hey @Marcus_Soul .
Google/Nest Wifi devices report the name of the device that is reported to them and doesn't determine it themselves. This can vary per device and can make determining which device is which when setting up IP reservations. I have my entire house IP reserved. The below should help:

Hi Marcus_Soul,
I just wanted to jump in real fast to see if you saw PatrickP_Viking's reply and to see if you still needed some help on this or if you were able to get it sorted out. If you are still needing some help, just let us know and we'll be happy to continue helping.
Thanks,

Thanks for getting back to me! So it turns out the problem still persists even after restarting the wifi point and restarting the entire network; the hostname still shows incorrectly. And to address Patrick's response, I checked the hosts file in both of the devices to make sure it is explicitly stated each device to their appropriate hostname. So again, just to be clear, my raspberry pi (hostname nems, 192.168.1.30) and my linux server (anthem, 192.168.1.90) is populating with MAC address of anthem, but labeled as nems.
